Surface Poppers For Rips Striper Feeding On Squid

Capt. Mike Hogan heads out through the fog to the rips off of Monomoy. In this video Capt. Mike is using the Hogy Charter Grade Popper in pink and amber to imitate the squid these stripers are feeding on.

Approach:

1. Stem the tide ahead of the rip by keeping engines in gear.

2. Cast at a 45 degree angle up current of the rip.

3. Begin your popping retrieve while reeling in minimal line.

4. As your popper enters the feeding zone at the face of the rip, begin retrieving back to the boat.
