Capt. Mike Hogan shows us multiple retrieves for targeting bluefish using the Charter Grade Surface Pencil. These long casting, simple and easy-to-use plugs are perfect for novice and experienced anglers targeting bluefish & stripers.
Tips:
1. Cast plug towards structure, current or bait pods near the surface.
2. Use a steady twitching motion with the rod tip in the ten o'clock position, working the Surface Pencil with a walk the dog motion.
3. In windy conditions, simply use a medium fast retrieve with the rod tip down, while imparting short rod tip twitches. This will work the plug near the surface with an occasional subsurface darting action.
